Software Security

Software measures are the internal system controls that guard against software hazards on computer systems. You may ensure your system has the highest level of software security by implementing the following security steps (s).

Sign in/Sign out System
By having a sign in/sign out system in place you can see who has accessed the college/the classroom(s)/certain access areas so if there’s ever any problems in those areas then you can see everybody who has entered that specific area, what time they left, how long they were there for and if there’s a reason why.

Strong Passwords & Policies
Strong password policies should always be used when logging into networks and accessing files. Each user will have their own login and password, which will prevent unauthorised people from accessing the building physically and using systems. There will also be multiple degrees of access, which will staff, users, and visitors from viewing other user's information.

Anti-Virus
To safeguard your systems from internal attacks, you must download antivirus software. You don't want a student to access a bad website and infect the entire machine or network. By utilising anti-virus software on all computers and servers, it will collaborate with the firewall to stop any hazardous files from downloading onto the system and immediately notify the user so that the threat posed by malicious content can be addressed.

Regular Security Updates
Regular security upgrades, such as weekly antivirus scans, help prevent internal security threats to organisations by serving as the necessary preventative maintenance checks. This aids in defending the college against malware like Trojans. If they entered unnoticed, they might eventually be discovered when doing thorough virus scans.
