Describe what strengths you have, providing examples? (at least 10 needed).

  1. Touch typing – I can close my eyes and type out a full paragraph usually without any mistakes at a fast pace
  2. Software – I usually tend to get a bit lost in trance when using new software’s that are interesting, making it more a hobby and gaining quick experience on how to navigate and troubleshoot errors
  3. Time management – I usually set at least a timeframe allowing me to usually get to where I need to be around 5-10 minutes early
  4. Independent working – I like to keep myself to myself a lot of the time as I tend to zone out on my surroundings due to concentration on my current task
  5. Helping others – helping friends or family always makes me feel a lot better than I originally did, to stay in a good mind set and stay positive I like to go out my way to help other people
  6. Self-learning – I like to spend a lot of time in my own hours learning more detail about the fundamentals of what I already know, I believe learning something new every day is a good way of keeping yourself refreshed
  7. Literature – from being in a family which has always been on top of spelling correctly, it’s kind of mandatory to know how to spell correctly
  8. Determination – after studying different subjects after all confidence was knocked from an IT apprenticeship (music, labouring) I am now more determined than ever to achieve a career in ICT
  9. Targets – I have already set myself a 3-year goal plan (BTEC level 3, CompTIA A+, Networking+, Security+, HnD in IT and a part time job while I study in further education)
  10. Teaching – I play a big role model to my younger brother, who is also wanting to learn from me what I know, spending hours on weekends breaking down what I already know to prepare him if he chooses to learn ICT or if he wishes to have a guideline to computing

List, with explanations, areas for improvements you are going to work towards?   (at least 10 areas identified).

  1. Computer hardware – Until I started my BTEC in IT I have had no experience in computer hardware
  2. Programming and coding – This is another new area that I have been recommended by friends to learn as soon as possible
  3. E-Commerce/Business – I have no idea on any form of business studies that can relate too but would really like to learn the basics of business and how it can also combine IT
  4. Law – I wish to gain a basic understanding in law and how it can benefit me knowing the fundamentals
  5. Verbal communication – I would like to improve my verbal communication skills as I sometimes doubt myself on what I’m about to say in case it is wrong and I feel a little silly
  6. Prioritizing tasks – I wish to make sure that all my main priorities always come first and I don’t leave a high priority task or commitment due to a lower priority
  7. Being on-point – I tend to get a bit carried away when it comes to talking and writing, I wish to start just getting to the point a lot quicker and easier other than talking or explaining things which don’t really need to be mentioned
  8. Security – from being hacked (keylogged, trojaned) I have a fear of the same ever happening to my siblings/family/children in the future, security is something I really wish to know and stay on top of in the future
  9. Networking – as I wish to progress from hardware to networking to then security, it is mandatory that I learn how networking and troubleshooting networking works
  10. Working in teams – confident to speak to other people but always have an anxiety that people disagree with my ideas so don’t always speak out about my ideas
