Potential barriers to effective communication
When using efficient communication
methods sometimes barriers can occur and it causes all the effective
communication and information to be lost by the user or audience.
Interpersonal
skills
When trying to read out a presentation
to the audience, there could be a background distraction somewhere that is
causing the audience to lose focus, it will be difficult for people to hear
what they need to hear, which they could miss out on vital information about
the particular conversation or even the whole conversation will then be
difficult for the user to understand and focus on.
Technology
failure
You could be showing a presentation
slideshow to an audience and then suddenly the computer breaks down, if you are
showing a PowerPoint presentation and it has facts and images included, you may
not be able to give all the details without the essential technology and this
can delay the audience from understanding fully what you are trying to say or
they will not understand at all.
Cultural
difference and language
If you have an international audience
and you provide a presentation for them, there could be different reasons why
they can’t fully understand and that would already cause difficulty problems
for them to process the information that you are saying.
·
Cultural
difference
Cultural difference is a huge barrier
when it comes to communication, some cultures will read from right to left
instead of left to right, this can cause the audience to get confused and
frustrated and the more frustration trying to understand communication
sometimes can cause you to just give up because it’s too difficult to
understand.
·
Language
When it
comes to languages it can be another big barrier in understanding
communication, if the students are international and you are speaking in
English, then they may have difficulty hearing or understanding your words,
making it more difficult for the users to understand what you are saying, once
again like cultural difference, it can get frustrated and they might just give
up and ignore what you’ve said.
