Social media is used for communication on a daily basis, from people who access their work rota from social networked group chats or organizations using cloud for their employees to store all of their work data.

We can learn new things at the click on a button, popular platforms such as Youtube are widely used internationally to learn from a different perspective, 20 years ago you would have to physically travel to another country for in-sight. You can use the internet to find resources to find answers to your questions, where-as it used to be either by having a specialized book or waiting for your next lecture class.

Networks have created "online gaming" platforms, allowing friends to play games together from across the world. Connecting multiple users from multiple networks together to create play games, create projects, host webinars, the list goes on.

[1.1b] Explain how host devices can be used as clients, servers or both

A host device such as a computer system can be used as both a client and a server. If the host computer is on a network and you are requesting a file from another computer on the system then you will be the client requesting a service from another system on the network.

A host can also be used in vice versa, if another user was using a system on the network to request a file (file service) from your system, then you would be the server to another system on the network.

The difference between a WAN and LAN server is that a WAN has a public IP address, this allows users from an outside network permission to access it, e.g. facebook allows users enter www.facebook.com to access their web server. However, a LAN would not have a public address otherwise strangers online would be able to access your networks resources.

Conclusion: Explain how multiple networks are used in everyday life

Businesses have e-commerce shops online which can be have 24/7 up-time for selling products internationally that anybody can access from their mobile phone or laptop. From online shopping to selling your old items on networked auction web-servers, the networks we use allow us the make these exchanges online.

Me writing this report right now is only possible because of networks around me that connect my devices to the internet, which allow me to research, study, write and present this report online on a network that other users can view and see.

[1.2] LAN, WANS and the Internet
[1.2a] Explain the use of network devices.. [1.2b] Compare the devices and topologies of a LAN to the devices and topologies of a WAN [1.2c] Describe the basic structure of the Internet                                            [1.2d] Explain how LANs and WANs interconnect to the Internet Conclusion: Explain how topologies and devices are connected in a small to medium-sized business network
